Great news! I’ve finally finished my first year of 1 Second Everyday! For the last 1 year, 12 months, 365 days, I have filmed one second of my life. I actually feel quite a sense of achievement in doing so. When I first started, I had my doubts as to whether or not I would actually see it through and persevere to get it finished.
I know it doesn’t sound like a big thing to do, just to film for one second of your life everyday, but for me (and this only be me overthinking things), it was memorable or unique to me in some way. There have been quite a few days where I really haven’t done much at all, notably the last couple of weeks where I’ve spend the day on the sofa off work ill, so finding some sort of content to fill these days have been a bit of a challenge.
It’s been such a fun thing to do, and its so nice to be able to look back through the year and see what I have done. Every clip I see brings back memories from that day, or that event which is such a great thing to have. I cannot tell you how many times I have played back various months to see how my little project was coming along, and each time I have looked back it always puts a smile on my face.
It’s kind of like having a diary that you can look back on and remember things that happened throughout the last year. So many things in my life have changed this year. Some bad things have happened, as is expected with any year, but many more wonderful things have happened. With this video, I can pick out the days on which these things happened to me, they may not be obvious from the clips, in some cases there isn’t even any indication of them happening, but I will always know. I guess thats what makes it even more special to me. The video may show one thing, but it triggers a memory for me which reminds me of something completely different.
One of the best things about starting this project was being able to show people and share it with them. So many of my friends have seen the videos I have been posting and started doing it themselves. It’s so much fun to sit and watch their videos to see what they’ve been up to, and its great to think that they started because I introduced them to it.
My original plan was to just do it for a year and see how it went, but I have to admit, I am completely hooked. I’m already thinking of so many things I have planned for next year, and looking forward to creating more videos for myself and others to enjoy.
There are a number of different things I take from watching the full video back, more notably, the following:
- I like shots of London landmarks way too much, but I love London, so that won’t change anytime soon
- I drink far too much wine, I mean like I don’t even want to count the number of wine seconds in there
- My indulgence in musical theatre has increased somewhat
- My spending habit in general has escalated to worrying levels
- I don’t really care about points 1, 2, 3 or 4 because I had a bloody fabulous year
So anyway, without further ado, here it is. My 25th year.
